AirAsia Thailand is expanding its network in India with the launch of new routes from Phuket to Chennai and Kolkata.

From October 27, AirAsia Thailand will launch the two routes to India from the popular Thai resort destination. The Phuket-Chennai route will operate thrice-weekly, while daily flights will be offered on the Phuket-Kolkata route.

“AirAsia has long awaited the opportunity to expand its network to the major metro cities of India,” said Santisuk Klongchaiya, Chief Executive Officer, AirAsia Thailand. “ Following the Thai government successfully negotiating aviation rights with India, AirAsia is now fully ready to add connections between both countries. By establishing direct routes from our Phuket hub, AirAsia is at the same time extending its international network beyond Bangkok.”

“Bridging travel between our two nations will promote tourism and business, bolstering both of our economies. We believe these routes will meet the needs of the Indian people as well as international travelers in Thailand and the Thai people themselves looking to make their way to India” Santisuk added.

The Thai-based AirAsia carrier will now offer 67 weekly flights to 12 cities in India - Kolkata, Chennai, Jaipur, Kochi, Bangalore, Gaya, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Guwahati, Visakhapatnam, Tiruchirappalli, and Hyderabad.
